Most of us buy them from the stores. Sometimes, lollipops are seen as a magical item, but it is very simple to make them at home if you follow the steps carefully.

So, now you can make them in your favorite flavors and with the desired toppings.

How To Make Homemade Lollipops?

Ingredients Required to Make Homemade Lollipops

  • Corn syrup
  • Granulated sugar
  • Flavors, artificial sweeteners
  • Liquid food coloring

Things Required

  • Candy thermometer (Optional)
  • Saucepan
  • Lollipop sticks

Method

1. Gather Your Ingredients

The first step in making this yummy treat is to take the necessary ingredients ready to make the lollipop. Prepare your molds by using non-stick cooking spray and inserting the lollypop sticks in the molds.

You can use corn syrup, granulated sugar, flavors and also artificial sweeteners, and liquid food colors in the recipe.

Tip: Just add a few drops of fruit mix to make them more natural.

2. Equipment

Along with the ingredients, take a couple of equipment suited for making homemade lollipops. Take the required equipment mentioned above with Silicone molds or parchment paper for shaping.

3. Cook the Corn Syrup

Take the saucepan and mix corn syrup, sugar, and water. Allow the bubbles to burst. Stir it well over medium heat until it comes to the boiling point and the sugar gets dissolved.

4. Measure Temperature

This is the most important step in making the candy. Insert the candy thermometer and continue boiling until it reaches the hard crack stage, typically around 300°F.

Tip: If you don’t have a thermometer, you can use a cold water test to find out the stage of the mixture.

5. Add Flavors

After allowing the syrup to reach the desired temperature, carefully remove the saucepan from the heat source to prevent further cooking.

At this stage, you can incorporate your choice of flavors, such as chocolate or vanilla extract, citrus zest, or spices, to enhance the syrup’s profile.

Stir the mixture gently to ensure an even distribution of flavors throughout the syrup, creating a unique and signature taste. Allow the syrup to cool slightly before storing it in a bottle or using it in your recipes.

6. Shaping

Shaping is another crucial step in making the lollipops. Pour the boiling syrup rapidly onto the parchment paper or into the molds you have prepared.

If using molds, make sure the lollipop sticks are well submerged in the syrup before inserting them.

If using parchment paper, use a spoon to make little circles or shapes, then center the sticks in the middle. Let the lollipops cool and solidify fully.

7. Enjoy the Treat!

Once fully hardened, your homemade lollipops are ready to enjoy. If desired, you can wrap them up in individual fancy wrapping paper or homemade sucker wrappers and hand them out to the little ones. I am sure they will freak out in joy. You can also make this for their birthday and surprise them.

Things to Know

  • If the sugar mixture hardens too quickly, place it in the microwave for 30 seconds to use it again.
  • Make lollipops on a dry day. Since sugar attracts water, the weather can affect candy making.
  • Mix the crystal clear extract, so your lollipop also looks good.
  • Keep an eye on the temperature safely.
  • Keep it simple. If you are making them for the first time, make sure to prepare a basic simple homemade lollipop recipe.

How to Store a Homemade Lollipop?

  • The first and foremost step is to keep the lollipops in an airtight container and store them in a cool and dry place.
  • Wrap each lollipop individually to avoid them sticking together.
  • Additionally, it is important to avoid refrigeration, as cooler temperatures can increase stickiness.
  • When properly stored, lollipops can last up to a year. While they may gradually soften over time due to moisture exposure, their flavor and shape are expected to remain consistent throughout their shelf life.

DIY Homemade Sucker Wrappers

Making homemade sucker wrappers is easy and fun! Here’s a simple way to wrap your suckers:

Materials You’ll Need:

  • Colored or wax paper
  • Scissors
  • Tape or glue
  • Ribbon or string (optional)

Instructions

1. Cut the Paper

To begin, cut the paper into rectangles or squares. With a little more at the ends, the size ought to be sufficient to wrap around the sucker. For most suckers, a 4-inch square works well.

2. Wrap the Sucker

Put the sucker in the middle of the paper to wrap it. The sucker stick should remain exposed after the paper is folded around it to conceal the majority of the candy.

3. Secure the Wrapper

To keep the paper in place, adhere its edges together with tape or glue.

4. Twist the Ends

Just like you would when wrapping a candy, gently twist the paper at both ends of the sucker. This keeps the candy safe and gives the wrapper a tidy appearance.

Here is a bonus tip for you!!

5. Add a Ribbon (Optional)

For an extra touch, tie a piece of ribbon or string around the twisted ends to make it look more festive. You can use matching or contrasting colors for fun.

You Can Also!

1. Try Different Flavors

By altering the extracts, you can change the lollipops’ flavor. Feel free to experiment with flavor combinations, but before making an entire batch, make sure to sample the mixture.

2. Make It Vibrant

You can also make it colorful by mixing two to three different flavors. Mint pops look well in green, vanilla pops can be yellow, and cinnamon goes great with red food coloring.

3. Use Fruit Mixes

Feel free to use fruit mixes also in making lollipops, which makes a healthy alternative for children.

4. Gift Them

Put the prepared lollipops in little treat bags and secure them with a twisted tie or ribbon to give as gifts.

5. Add Ons
