Here are some mistakes that must be avoided on your first date. 

1. Do Not Explore Restaurants

Never try to explore new restaurants for the menu or its ambiance on your very first date.If the food is not up to the mark or you mispronounce a dish on the menu, it’ll be an Oops!. So it’s better not to get too adventurous. 

2. Play It Cool

There are instances where you have seen through their social media pages to know more about them. But you have to keep your act together and face value the person. Try to be interesting and a good listener because sometimes your date might value that. Trying to score is okay, but do not go too strong on the other cause it is not a good idea. 

3. Talk Less About Yourself

Both men and women would feel less interested in dating if you kept talking about yourself. Do not talk too much about your work if you are a working professional; sometimes that might sound uninteresting to the other person. Always be mindful of each other’s presence and their personal lives. 

4. Keep Your Phone Down

It is always more important to pay attention to the person sitting in front of you, because that moment is significant. It would be rude if one of you started using the phone when you were trying to find out about each other. This might look like a blatant ignorance of the other, but unless it’s an emergency, do not use your phone because it sometimes defines you!

5. Avoid Too Much Pet Stories, Girls!

Pet lovers have amazing stories to tell, but guys would feel it way too boring. Do not become the crazy cat or dog lady on your first date! Interestingly, men do not talk much about their pets compared to women. So, keep it simple and check if the other person is also a pet lover and interested in the conversation.

6. Be A Gentleman

Don’t be stingy in what you do in front of your date, especially men. It’s okay to offer to pay the bill on your first date. Do not do the classic trick of leaving the place at the time of getting the bill. These are some basic gentleman rules that can make you look good. Later it can be 50/50 or according to your convenience. 

7. Be Honest

“Honesty is the best policy” is one of the key points when it comes to a first date or in a relationship. Be honest about your feelings, and do not give them false hopes of a second date, relationship, or marriage. It is important to be honest about yourself. This can help you avoid awkward situations. If there is no second date, then don’t stretch the date. 

8. Maintain Eye Contact

Make sure you do not look at anything but your date cause if you do not maintain proper eye contact it will look like you’re not interested. Hold eye contact with them to show you are attentive and enjoying the conversation. 

9. Don’t Say It All

You need to be honest with your date, but some things must be kept to yourself. Revealing too much about yourself such as your family genealogy, personal things, and what, why questions may not look nice on a first date. They might be kind and would hear you with a smile, but this can tune them out, especially on the very first date.So, keep some things left for future dates.

10. Past Is Always a Past

Sometimes we start to talk repeatedly about our past, and it is better not to give much importance to it on your first date. This might make your date feel that you are not over your past and that the date is a rebound for you. It’s always better not to go down that road again and relive bad instances. So, talking much about your past is a big NO!.
